Build a custom place to live.
Without custom home prices.
Usually, when you hear the words “custom home,” dollar signs pop into your head. But it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s possible to have a home that’s unique to you, without paying a premium for it. A barndominium has all the features of a turnkey custom residence. They are airtight, fully insulated, and include electricity, plumbing, energy efficient windows and more. And they use 50% less lumber than a traditional home, too. Barn Living has been building these structures for years. Select a floorplan from our existing designs, or we’ll do a custom plan just for you. What Our Clients Say
My husband met Butch Phillips many years ago at the Dixie Deer Classic in Raleigh NC. For years he dreamed of building a log cabin on family land and commented that he had told Butch that when the time came, he wanted Butch to build it. So finally, the time came when we were ready to build our log cabin. My husband set up a meeting with Butch and I immediately knew why he wanted Butch to be a part of our dream. Butch, from the beginning, was more than our manager/contractor. He was a friend. He helped from the very beginning of the process until the completion. He sat down with us and asked us what we wanted. My husband kept saying that he just wanted a front porch and Butch made sure that he got his porch! I knew nothing about planning a cabin and was so lost, but Butch was patient and helped us in EVERY aspect, from helping sketch our cabin to arranging for the logs, beams and all materials to help get our cabin completed. He recommended special touches to add to the cabin based on his years of building log homes. He spent many phone calls and many trips to do what was necessary to be sure that we were satisfied. He always said that his job was to exceed our expectations! I can attest that he did that and much more. Our cabin is beautiful and just what we wanted. Every time I go through the front door, I am reminded in all that I see, how much Butch is reflected in our dream!! I can’t imagine that anyone else could provide the knowledge, expertise, personal service and caring that Butch has.
Our log home went from an idea of ” Can we do this”, to a drawing our floor-plan on a napkin at our kitchen table, to set up a meeting with Butch in Boone one spring day. The Mountain Lifestyle is what we wanted but involved so much from finding land ( Butch helped us on that too) at a budget AND building our little dream log cabin. After about 2 months of looking at land and having Butch draw our plans, it was decision time. After getting the final price, we were happy that the estimate came in just a “little” under our budget but gave Butch the ” Let’s build this Log Cabin” thumbs up! Now it’s done, 7 months later, and we are in our wonderful log cabin that is more than what we expected….. We got the WOW factor from listening to the guys. The materials, those big exposed beams, the ideas along the way and working with Butch, his crew ( they did all the work ! Haha ) was a good experience. I stressed at times but decisions had to be made. Mountain Living and being retired is a great combination here in the High Country!
For many years we have purchased both traditional and reclaimed lumber from Butch Phillips. We were wholesalers and sold directly to homeowners, builders, and interior designers. The materials are superior and the service was outstanding. What has been intriguing is the fact of Butch having the ability to find me the extreme odd sizes or seemingly impossible to find reclaimed materials. I remember he even got us “Mushroom Wood” way back. Retired now but recommend you contact him for your next project.
